Class, or one’s socioeconomic status, can be an important factor when discussing families because it can significantly impact the resources and opportunities available to a family. Families of a higher socioeconomic class may have better education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, which can improve overall well-being and stability. In contrast, families of a lower socioeconomic class may struggle to meet their basic needs and may have limited access to resources and opportunities. A class can also influence the family structure, and the values and traditions passed down within the family (Becker & Hadjar, 2019). A class can play a significant role in shaping the experiences and outcomes of families.
