Using current news articles originating from newspapers, magazines, or the Internet, and at least one scholarly source (trade journal, industry paper, etc.), write a three to five page paper that identifies two contemporary issues concerning either security as a profession or a specific organizational problem. 

This document must clearly define the issues identified in the selected news articles and how those issues relate to and/or impact security operations. Most importantly, the document must provide proposals of solutions to the issues and the measures required for successful implementation. The issues and solutions you and your classmates identify will be the topic of discussion in a class conference.

UMUC Online Guide to Writing and Research should be reviewed, particularly Chapter 5 – Academic Integrity and Documentation, found athttp://www.umuc.edu/prog/ugp/ewp_writingcenter/writinggde/chapter5/chapter5-02.s html. Students must properly document their work using APA in-text writing style (parenthetical citations) when completing assignments.

Copying or using the work of another student, falsifying sources, or representing an idea or thought of another as one’s own may be grounds for reprimand under UMUC’s policy on academic dishonesty.

The substance of your projects must meet appropriate standards for a 300-level college course in the following categories:

·         Content: the issues and substance, the points you raise, the arguments you present

·         Terminology: proper usage of vocabulary for this area of study

·         Application: how you apply theories and knowledge to given facts

·         Complete Response: whether you answered all questions and sub-questions

·         Organization/Style: was there a logical, understandable “flow” to the work

·         Grammar/Mechanics: citation, punctuation, spelling, proper word usage

Formatting requirements

Use the American Psychological Association (APA) style manual in writing this paper, which will consist of a cover page, the body of the paper (with an appropriate introductory statement about the topic), and a reference page that includes the proper reference information for the selected articles. The cover and reference pages will not be included in the page count.
