An Empowerment Speech

Good afternoon to you all. My name is Dennis brown. It is with great pleasure and honor to come to you and present a topic that I find most useful to all. I believe by the end of the presented, you will all be transformed and inspired in various degrees.

The topic is Realizing One’s Potential. I am happy to see all cadre of audience here from the least to most humble. This is because the topic covers all walks of lives.

It will be covered under the following subtopics

• Observing the rule of the farm

• Abundance mentality versus scarcity mentality

• Time management

Welcome everybody and I believe you are going to benefit from it.

Allow me to begin with a question: who was the first man to land on moon? (Pause)

Neil Armstrong. Correct and you all know that. And who was the second person to land on moon? Among all you here, nobody knows this second person who landed on moon. We also don’t bother who landed the third. The reason is that the society is mainly concerned with the achievers, those who break records, make history or those who invent and take the lead. The society will then forget the rest in the race.

I have hereby come to tell you how to emerge as the victor, take the lead and make history, for we all have the potential to do in whatever we do. And how do we realize full potential?

Number one: Observe the rule of the farm.

This rule states that whatever you sow, that you shall also reap.  Stated in different versions, it says that you plant more, you harvest more. Further, you won’t expect to harvest an apple from an orange tree. We therefore are supposed to invest a lot in everything we do, whether it is reading, practicing sport, devoting in relationships, investing in business among others. This way, the returns will be extraordinarily great. You will be applauded as the richest, the fastest, or simply the best!

Number two: Abundance mentality versus scarcity mentality

I like this principle for it gives a sense of security and assurance that in all you do, you surely will find something to have. People who believe that there a market share, there is time to improve, there is availability of capital, that there is room to work  and even there is always a niche to follow are said to have abundance mentality. Their view is that there is enough for all. On the other hand, those who think that there is little or hardly any in anything they want have the scarcity mentality. This lot hardly tries things and lives in fear. I urge to embrace abundance mentality, go forth and work and you will be crowned the best.

The last, which is equally important, is time management. McKenzie Buffet, a re-known philosopher and researcher, once said,’time flies ‘, saying this was bad news. He then added that, ‘but you are the pilot’, saying that this was good news. We therefore are responsible for how we spend our precious time that we have. There is an appropriate time for everything therefore if one is time conscious; they won’t be caught off guard by time. Good time managers know when to plant, when to rear, when to harvest and when to sell. Kindly let us manage our time very well, knowing that we all have same time in a day or year. What matters is how you spent.

Ladies and gentleman do not deny yourself, your family and the society your full strength. if you want to realize your full potential, observe the rule of the farm, have abundance mentality and manage your time well.

Thank you and hope to see you in the Guinness Book of Records, the Forbes magazine, the Hero’s Magazine but of course not in the Interpol as the most wanted terrorist.

REFLECTION STATEMENT

I find this speech important to me especially when I think that I am living in a competitive world. In such a world, there is what I expect from myself, what my teacher expects from me and similarly what my friend, my family, state and then the employer expect from me. I would like to be an outstanding student in the class, an outstanding son and father in my family, the most competent employee in my company or even the best citizen. This will enable me to realize my full potential.
