Professor Olsen teaches business law for Fowler University, a for-profit school in Boston. Several times during the semester, Professor Olsen made copies of articles and distributed them to her students. The daughter of one of the article’s authors was a student in her class. The daughter told her mother about Olsen’s copying, which took place without the mother’s or publisher’s permission. The mother sued Olsen and the University for copyright infringement.
