Week 2: Week Two – Class Discussion Class Discussion Graded Activity: Class Discussion (25 points) Instructional Objectives for this activity: Identify the three ecosystem trophic categories of organisms. In Chapter 5, the different trophic categories in an ecosystem are discussed and the importance of each of the trophic categories is described in detail. For this week’s class discussion, please review the materials assigned in chapter 5, and answer all the prompts below.
What are the three ecosystem trophic categories? Give 2 examples of each trophic category that can be found in your town, city or county. What trophic category do you think is the most important in the ecosystem and why? What is biodiversity? Is it important? Relate biodiversity to the trophic categories. What would happen to the rest of the trophic categories if one them was wiped out?
