Spanish Armada was the strongest naval fleet in all Europe. However, these thoughts were proved wrong. In the year 1588 Queen Elizabeth of England came with her naval fleet to fight against the Spanish Armada. The Spanish Armada was more powerful but on that day the English Fleet came with all the powers and defeated King Phillip’s the II “Spanish Armada, this turned into a big and famous turning point for the English Empire” (Kirkmann, John. 2004) since after this achievement caused the Spanish empire to decline slowly and turned England into the most powerful fleet and one of the strongest countries in all of Europe. However, there are several more reasons why it became a turning point for England, and also reasons why all of this chaos for Spain was caused.
Now, starting from the reason for which this event took place. The Spanish Armada was a very large naval fleet of Spanish ships, which were prepared by King Phillip in the year 1588 with the point of view of attacking the English Empire, conquering it and turning the Spanish Empire into a stronger empire than England. However, King Phillip II goal of taking over the English Empire didn’t succeeded, and also it didn’t turned out very well for Spain.
Anyway, another mayor reasons why did this event took place was because before the defeat of the Armada strong “tensions between these two countries were taking place” (Vessels, Marine. 2006). This was because when Queen Mary died Queen Elizabeth took the throne, and under her leadership or throne a “treaty signed between Spain, England and France ended because pirates were taking over Spanish Ships and Queen Elizabeth at the same time initiated a revolt against the Spaniards when they were in the Netherlands” (Hickman, Kennedy. N.d.). This was when King Phillip II decided to prepare an offensive attack against England and try to take over it.
However, the most important thing of this entire event that took place was how did it became favorable for England in that time and how did it turned to become terrible for the Spanish Empire. When the English fleet went out and fight not well prepared, against the strongest armada in all of Europe it was probable that England was going to lose, however the English put all of their effort and defeated it. This turned England into the strongest country in all Europe and also making it’s fleet also the strongest fleet in all of Europe. “The English renowned power and leadership terrified all of the European Countries” (Kirkmann, John. 2004). Favorable for England because colonization in the years 1600’s was taking place, and it began to build up a very powerful Armada. Also, England was the top Country with economic things having to do with Exploration and Exportation; also England signed a treaty with the other big Country France.
As for Spain, it wasn’t very favorable for them. After the defeat Spain turned into a very week Empire since it’s Naval fleet was destroyed and it was the strongest in all Europe. With this happening a “series of unfortunate events took place” (Vessels, Marine. 2006) after the defeat of the Armada. Spain was no longer a Strong country in any event of exploration or offensive fighting. The Spanish Empire declined completely after this event.
In Conclusion, the reasons why the defeat of the Spanish Armada became or turned to become a turning point for England was because England became the strongest country in all of Europe. Making it build up a very strong Naval fleet, which was one of the main reasons why it turned to be strong. Also on those years the English Empire started the colonization of the New World in that time. Another mayor event that turned to be strong for England was that it was the strongest country in Exportation and Exploration means in that time, signing a peace treaty with France. And for Spain nothing turned out good for them since it’s Armada was defeated and turned out to become a very week country in entire Europe.
