My long-term goal is to work in social justice research and advocacy, so I am quiet interested in DOJ agencies.  

Civil Rights Division, a Federal agency, which enforces the Civil Rights Acts; the Voting Rights Act; the Equal Credit Opportunity Act; the Americans with Disabilities Act and more. It oversees laws that prohibit discrimination in education, employment, credit, housing, public accommodations and facilities, voting, and certain federally funded and conducted programs. 
Federal Bureau of Prisons, a Federal agency under the Department of Justice, acts to “protect society by confining offenders in the controlled environments of prisons and community-based facilities that are safe, humane, cost-efficient, and appropriately secure, and that provide work and other self-improvement opportunities to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens.” According to its website. 
Office of the Inspector General, again a Federal entity, has the jurisdiction to oversee programs and personnel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the United States Attorneys, and all other organizations in the Department. 

I think Interpol, although interesting various ways doesn’t really speak to my passion.

Considering the size of law enforcement in the U.S. the three levels of law enforcement agencies are, such as- Federal law enforcement, State law enforcement, and Local law enforcement. 

Federal law enforcement agency:A U.S. government agency or office whose primary functional responsibility is to enforce federal criminal laws. Conduct criminal investigation, execute search warrant, make arrests, carry firearms are the functions that are they authorized to perform. Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Secret service, Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and Department of the Interior, National Park Service, U.S. Park Police, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Capitol Police etc are the branches of the federal law enforcement agency. 
State law enforcement agency:State law enforcement agencies are usually organized after one of two models. In a centralized model, the tasks of major criminal investigations are combined with the patrol of state highways. A centralized state police agency generally assists local law enforcement departments in criminal investigations when asked to do so, operate centralized identification bureaus, maintain a centralized criminal records repository, patrol the state’s highways, and provide select training for municipal and county officers. Each state decides their own that how to operate their law enforcement system. New York state law enforcement agency includes- NYS Police (Trooper), NYS Park Police, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.  
Local Law Enforcement Agency:Local law enforcement agencies, including city and county agencies, represent a third level of police activity in the United States. The term local police encompass a wide variety of agencies. Municipal departments, rural sheriff’s departments, and specialized groups like campus police and transit police can all be grouped under the “local” rubric. County Sherriff, County Police, City Police, Town Police etc are the branches of the local law enforcement agency.  

The agencies in which I find particular interest are listed below.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI):The official purpose of today’s FBI is succinctly stated in the agency’s mission statement: “The Mission of the FBI is to protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners.” The FBI exists under the federal law enforcement agency of the government. The opportunity that interests me much is that the FBI agents are known as special agent as they have the power to conduct both major and minor criminal investigations which I believe opens a big opportunity for officers to learn lot of new techniques to deal with crime and criminal through the investigations. Another interesting thing is agents are authorized to hold their firearms all the time even during their off-duty time. So, these special methods and power particularly interests me the most. 
NYS Police:This sector exists under the state law enforcement agency of the government. The special thing that mostly interests me about this sector is that every time a police officer tries to solve any case or problem then he or she always will have a workable plan to solve it. I always like to learn new techniques and this profession is something like that where every time I will learn new things. Police-community relation is an area of police activity that recognizes the need for the community and the police to work together effectively. This is another important reason that particularly creates interests for me on this agency. I like to meet with new people and this sector of profession creates an opportunity to meet new people whether it’s good or bad but still gives you a chance to learn about new things about different people you meet. Last but not the least this profession gives you a chance to help the community’s people by solving their problems as well as you will have a great chance to know a community better by working there. 

The Interpol police are the International Criminal Police Organizations through which countries cooperate in investigating crimes, especially situations in which lawbreakers have crossed international borders or participated in multicounty criminal activities. As far I understand and learn about the Interpol for me, working for an agency like Interpol will be an interesting thing as it creates a way to connect with another country and when you need you can get help from them and when they need you they can get help from you like vise versa as it works like a treaty. By working as an Interpol, it will be easy to get information about any criminal who might live in another country but committed crime in your country.
