Initial Post
Respond to initial topic question, only after reviewing Lesson 8: Capitalism and the Industrial Revolution

Twentieth century American historian, Lewis Mumford, stated inTechnics and Civilization that “it was because of certain traits in private capitalism that the machine- which was a neutral agent- and in fact has sometimes been, a malicious element in society, careless of human life, indifferent to human interests. The machine has suffered for the sins of capitalism; contrariwise, capitalism has often taken credit for the virtues of the machine.”1
What do you think about this statement? Is this true, partially true, or false?
Your task: Write at least a 2-paragraph response to that question in relation to the Mumford quote.  Must include:

at least 2 paragraphs in length
Must include a citation from Chapter 21, Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, pp. 759-765
Must include a citation from Chapter 21, Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, pp. 769-776
Must include a citation from any other primary source featured in Chapter 21
Naturally, initial post response can include additional citations if desired.
