This next assignment will ask you to respond to a single written text based on our own contexts and experiences. We will be writing this time, however, for an academic audiencebest imagined, perhaps, as your professors and other college-educated peoplewho have certain expectations about what makes a reasonable response to a written text. There are many ways to react to a text (many of which we will cover in class), but academic writing values certain kinds of response that are both respectful of a texts author and stay true to the points the author is making. As a result, this essay will ask you to write a balanced essay which fairly summarizes and discusses the published essay, while offering your own response to the essays ideas. Rather than a pure summary of the essay or a pure reaction based only on your opinions and experiences, you are aiming for more of a conversation between you and the authorone that takes your own ideas and the writers seriously. That said, however, you will also need to choose a focus for your own response that may not (and probably should not) cover every point the author makes. Let your own interests, ideas, experiences, and reactions be the guides for what positions or ideas in the essay you choose to respond to. Imagine this essay, then, as a response to an essay for an academic audience who is interested in what you think about the authors ideas. The center of the essay is, as in your contexts that make me paper you and your ideas, but this time we will also work on integrating your experience with that of the different contexts/opinions/experiences offered in the published essay in ways that will appeal to an academic audience.
: there is a text from opening conversations that has to be responded to. I will email pictures of the text that has read properly first and then commence the essay.
